The number of users of SUMit's roster planning continues to climb. It is an odd bunch of companies, yet with a number of common properties

Earlier this year SUMit has created a roster for the part time receptionists of a town hall, designed a roster for an Australian sober up centre, gave roster design training to the planners of a high security 24-hours control room, designed a roster for the helpdesk of an IT company and finished three roster designs for logistic multinationals at Amsterdam Airport.

Fire Brigade Lelystad

The diversity of companies does not stop to amaze me. No exceptions, it is always some exceptional organisation that contacts SUMit for roster software, a roster design training or a roster design service.

Last week the fire squad of Lelystad town took her rosters on line at SUMit's. Of course! Fire brigades have little to do with office hours. And firemen are accustomed to handling modern equipment.

High demands

The fire brigade Lelystad did have a number of criteria that the SUMit roster system should meet.

Fire Brigade Lelystad
  • Is the system easy to use?
  • Is there good support when setting up the system?
  • Can employees request for leave on line?
  • Can employees view each others roster at home, handy when finding a mate to swap duties?
  • Is it safe to use? Is it impossible for employees to change the roster themselves?
  • Is the system able to handle 12 hour shifts for firemen and office hours for other personnel?
  • Can it create a roster by repeating cycles?
  • How flexible is it when switching to a new cycle?
  • And... can the system cope with the exceptional, fire squad specific, work-rest patterns?
The fire brigade Lelystad has a very practical way of evaluating things: just use it. Both planner as employees have done elaborate testing in a free trial period.

Security

Of course the fire squad did pay special attention to security. Did you expect anything else?

The commander challenged his troops to crack the system. It was a task they did with great enthusiasm. Only when the system withstood their attacks, the squad gave the final green light.

I enjoy this type of critical customers, demanding value for money. SUMit welcomes the fire brigade!
