Hachee
Grandmother's recipe.
2 kilograms onions
1 pound of beef
couple of laurel leaves
about 2 spoons corn flour
2 red Capsicums
3 ounce rice
a bit of ketjap
salt and pepper
butter or oil
Day 1
Clean the onions and chop them.
Fry in oil on a low fire. Stir regularly as to avoid burning.
When it starts browning, add ketjap, salt and pepper, laurel leaves and keep it simmering for a very long time.
Add chopped meat. Advice: fry the meat separately to get it nice and brown.
Day 2
Heat up the Hachee slowly, don't forget to stir once in a while.
Clean the capsicums, chop to pieces, add.
When that is done add (a drop of) water and thicken with corn flour.
Cook rice or potatoes the way you are used to and serve separately.
